Plant of the Week – New Gold & Chapel Hill Lantana

New Gold & Chapel Hill Lantana
Lantana x ‘New Gold’ & Lantana ‘Chapel Hill Yellow’
Why do we like these lantana?  First, both are extremely root hardy (down to 10 degrees) so if you live in cold areas these are for you. Developed at Texas A&M, New Gold does not set seed, using all its energy to produce almost non-stop mounds of color.
After a cold winter New Gold is the first to recover in the spring. Chapel Hill (also called Sunny Side Up for it soft yolk like color) is a more recent introduction. With its soft yellow flower Chapel Hill is a low growing spreading lantana like New Gold. Perfect where New Gold seems too bold.
